Floodplain Enforcement

The City recognizes that persons with property in the floodplain may want to build on their property.
The City will enforce the floodplain policies according to the following:
All new construction In the floodplain will be required to adhere to the floodplain ordinances and regulations.
No new structures may have a finished floor below the 17' level and may not have any utllities, ,electricity,
heating or ventilation below this level. Any accessible part of a structure below the 17' level may only be
used for parking, entry into the structure or limited storage.
Any structure In the floodplain that has damages equaling or exceeding the value of the structure by fifty'
percent (50%) or more as a result of flood, fire, tornado or other damage will be required to come into full
compliance with the floodplain policies. In some instances, structures may have to be elevated to raise the
